The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton was a great novel about the hardships and struggles of Greasers and Socs. The Greasers are lower than the Socs. The Socs pick and beat up the Greasers because they have more power than them. In the novel the main character, Ponyboy is different than all the other Greasers but still considers him a tough one. After all the time of being picked on and beat up by these Socs he assumes all of them are bad, but after seeing Cherry and getting to know her she explains that not all Socs are bad. After the movies with Cherry, Pony and Johnny talk a walk and Socs Come up in their Blue Mustang and start beating up Pony and try to drown him. Johnny stabbed Bob and Pony and him talk a run for it. Johnny is just a child abused kid and has never faced anything like this before. They hid in a church and suddenly when they are eating at a diner with Dally they church catches on fire. Johnny and Pony save the Kids who get trapped but Johnny got hit by a pillar in the back, paralyzing him. The gang got so mad they started a rumble when the Greasers fight the Socs. The end up winning and they got informed that Johnny was in critical condition. Dally and Pony go to the hospital and Johnny dies and Dally storms out of the room. Dally can hardly take it in and robs a grocery store. the police come after him and shoot him, he was dead before he hit the ground. Pony has bad grades and his teacher tell him to write a 5 paged essay about anything. Pony decides to write about his story and what happened. |
